Excel Formulae and Functions

Description

The Excel Formulae and Functions focuses on Excel but the material learned in class will apply equally well in any spreadsheet or database. While this is a two-day class some may wish to add a third day focusing on business models and financial formulae.

As with many of the more advanced classes I will meet with you to get you started and assign several chapters in the book. Since the book is quite large I suggest you give yourself time to read it and spread your "classroom" time with me over several days. You will likely be amazed at what formulae and functions can do for you and how powerful your Excel work will become.

When we start please share with me your experience and goals and I will help you choose specific chapters to focus on. This is particularly true if you have only a limited time to devote to this class or have to get up-and-running quickly.

Prerequisites

You must be comfortable working in Excel.

How long does the class take?

2 days

Software Required

Excel is required for this course. Please specify if you are using Excel 2003 or 2007. If you wish to take this course at home to prepare for work you may consider using the 60-day trial version available from Microsoft. Please make a note of the hardware/software requirements at microsoft.com if you are installing this software on your own.

If you prefer, OpenOffice.org will also work for most of the exercises in this course. OpenOffice.org is a free competitor to Microsoft Excel and offers many of the same features and does many things better.
